MP3: THE GLASS

When I first moved to NYC in the Summer of '04, the first people that gave me my first dance night were the fine folks over at Hanger Bar in the East Village, in the fall of 05. And this is actually where the dance night Dirty Down began. The Hanger Bar was only opened for a few months and I learned that the previous bar was the infamous Plant Bar. Well known for it's crazy dance parties that went late late into the night, battling Guilliani's anti-dancing laws. A spot that had James Murphy installing the sound and dudes from The Rapture were behind the bar slinging drinks. The two owners (or one?) were in a band called The Glass, who also ran the label Plant Records. I'm not sure which one came first, or if these facts are true, but it's pretty much a legendary NYC night life spot. Im sure there are more crazier details and happenings I'm missing and have never heard.
More recently, Glen from The Glass hit me up with some remixes and originals from their upcoming CD; Couples Therapy that will be dropping at the end of September on Plant Records. The Glass have been touring Europe and North America on the daily these days... Check for them in your area. And buy it when it drops!
